LHM – December 2018 Message

JOY TO THE WORLD……THE LORD IS COME

In an age that questions Christian values and messages, the mission of the Lutheran Hour Ministries Float proclaims “To provide a Christian witness and hope in Jesus to the unchurched, who view the float in person and through the media.”  The 2019 Tournament of Roses Parade theme is “The Melody of Life” and the Lutheran Hour Ministry flat is entitled: “Joy to the World, the Lord is Come.”  This hymn proclaims the greatest of life’s melodies, the sweet song of salvation – victory over sin, death, and the evil one – and the eternal reign of Jesus Christ.  Let trumpets sound, let choirs in heaven and on earth rejoice and “repeat the sounding joy!”

The birth of Jesus is prominently displayed in the center of the float, we meet the Promised One of God who comes to undo sins curse, and by His resurrection, gives us the hope of eternal life.  The float will feature sheet music created with crushed white rice and black onion seed.  Trumpets and bells will be decorated with gold clover seed, various shades of yellow and bronze strawflower, dark and light lettuce seed, onion seed and silver leaf.  Sheep will be decorated with raw cotton pin curls.  Donkey will have uva and pampas grasses.  Decks of roses, carnations and poinsettias will be at the base of the float.  Riders on the float will be led by the new Lutheran Hour Speaker, the Rev. Michael Zeigler, and members of LCMS churches.  The best TV viewing and showing the entirety of the Tournament of Roses Parade is on the Home and Garden Channel or RFD TV.

As we begin the Year of our Lord, 2019, Lutheran Hour Ministries invites you to join us in our melody of praise.  We pray that the peace, hope, and joy we find in Jesus Christ would be your peace, hope, and joy as well.  “Joy to the World, the Lord is Come”.  Your gifts and prayers make a very real impact on this ministry each day.
