LHM – November 2020 Message

There is no Darkness

We are fascinated by the beauty and mystery of the stars.  Astronomers indulge that fascination and add to our knowledge.  Astrologers, with their horoscopes, wrongly attribute to the stars the power to determine human events, a power the stars do not have.  The stars are created things, and their existence and movements are ordained by the Creator.  God set the stars to give light to the world.  “He determines the numbers of the stars; He gives to all of them their names” (Psalm 147:4).  We have also named stars – Rigel, Polaris, Sirius, and many others.  Named and nameless, the stars help travelers find their way.  The “star” we follow has a God-given Name.  The star is “Jesus”.

As we walk with Jesus in the light, we look forward to what lies ahead.  We appreciate the beauty of the world our Creator has made.  We watch for the event yet to come.  We do not know when He will return, but we are “looking for the coming of Christ”.  That great day, when our crucified and risen Lord will raise us bodily from death, as He was raised, and welcomes us into His presence forever.  We will live in the place that Jesus has prepared for us, a home that has no need of stars or sun “for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb” (Revelation 21:23b).

OUR PRAYER:  Shine in our hearts, Lord Jesus, as we await Your return.  Lead us by Your Word to walk as children of the light.  Come, Lord Jesus!  Amen.   As Christians, you are part of what God is doing through the Lutheran Hour Ministries.  Your gifts and prayers make a very real impact on this ministry every day.  Remember The Lutheran Hour ministries and look forward to seeing how the Lord will work through us.
