LHM – May 2017 Message

Reflections

The 2017 Rose Parade was a tremendous experience.  The crowds were fantastic.  A bit confused, a little skeptical; they were delighted to witness the only Christian parade float in Southern California.  The Lutheran Hour Ministries’ 2017 parade float chosen title, “Celebrate Jesus”.

This float celebrates the 100th anniversary of The Lutheran Laymen’s League and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation led by Martin Luther.  Even before the parade started, people were coming up to the float and reading the words on the large church bells, inscribed with the Lutheran Hour Ministries’ mottos of “Grace Alone”, “Faith Alone”, and “Scripture Alone”.  Grown men and women crossed themselves.  The parade crowds cheered “Jesus”, “Pray for us, Jesus”, “We love you, Jesus”.  They gave the thumbs up sign, “Jesus, you’re the man”.  The Lutheran Hour Ministries’ float gave the people watching a reminder that God is present everywhere, even in the Rose Parade.  This Christian proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has gone on in this secular event for 67 years, a fact more amazing than the 300 million people viewing worldwide.

Jesus is the founder and protector of our faith.  May God bless and work faith in those who saw “Jesus” and “The Message of the Bells”.  We have a lot to celebrate.

As Christians, you are a part of what God is doing through the Lutheran Hour Ministries.  Your gifts and prayers make a very real impact on this ministry each day.  Remember The Lutheran Hour Ministries and look forward to seeing how the Lord will work through us.
