Will You Believe?
In Jesus, God was present then, He is present now, He is with you in this very moment. He comes to help us in times of trouble, to help us in the storms. He’s there amidst our cries for real rescue, our ultimate rescue. He stretches out His rescuing hand even in the midst of our darkest hours. God comes to you and me to give all of us real hope. The reason Jesus came to earth is to be God’s help in our times of trouble. He came to assist us with His advice and inspire us with His goodness. Do you believe that?
What does God have to do to convince us that He is real? That he is with us, that He is working for us, that He has forgiven our sins, that we can trust Him with our lives and right now He is calling us to be His own? What does God have to do to ease our doubts, calm our fears and to overcome our hesitance to trust in Him?
Former atheist and renowned author, C. S. Lewis recognized doubt within his doubt, too. No matter how hard he pushed against God, Lewis saw that God was “a lion who goes in search of man, hunts him down, and embraces him”. Faith is not believing that God can…it is knowing that He will. It is God’s business to knock apart our doubt and draw us close to Him.
The whole Christian church subscribes to ecumenical creeds, i.e. The Apostle’s Creed and The Nicene Creed. The word “creed” simply means a set of beliefs or statements of faith. Each creed has a certain focus and spells out specific articles of faith. These words of faith in God; they talk about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They came together over many years, but they are rooted in the teachings of the Apostles. Teachings that are ancient confessions of faith, connecting us with other believers across the world and across the ages. The truth of the God who created and cares for us, the God who redeems us, the God who remains with us.
So how about you? The Holy Spirit has called us by the Gospel, enlightened us with His gifts, and sanctified and kept us in the true faith. By the power of the Holy Spirit, today know that there is real treasure right here, right now for you; the treasure of your Savior Jesus Christ. He is the love and grace of God. Jesus paid the price to deliver it all the way to you. Right here, right now. Believe in Him, know His work, and you will trust Him too……..And that changes everything!
