YOUR BEST SELF
The last few weeks of the year are typically a hustle bustle of activities. It’s a time to consider how we will live out the remaining days of the year. We’re in the spirit of Thanksgiving We are grateful for family and friends, and we naturally thank God for great and small gifts. God has gifted us; we trust in Him. Love God, love our neighbor and encourage others to do the same.
The season of the church called Advent begins on Sunday Nov. 27, 2022. Advent is the season of preparation and anticipation leading up to Christmas and continues to Epiphany Jan. 6,2023. Advent isa time for us to repent and believe. We know Jesus was born to forgive our sins. We repent and admit our sins to God and believe we are forgiven because of the death and resurrection of Jesus on our behalf. We know Jesus is coming back and believe that when He returns, He will give us eternal life.
As the Advent season approaches, this is the time to grow in our faith and mature as followers of Jesus. But what does it mean to follow Jesus? Jesus first calls us to ”come”. He then wants us to follow Him. Jesus wants us to go beyond our skills and resources. He will lead us to full lives, lives that are pleasing to God and that make a better world. Following Jesus is a Holy Spirit empowered process. May we be used of the Holy Spirit to direct our hearts and be a nation of grateful people. You are your Best Self when you are in Jesus.
