“TAKE WHAT GOD GIVES”
A pastor asked a six year old girl in his congregation whether she wanted a baby brother or a baby sister. The little girl’s mother must have spent some time discussing the possibilities with her because of the reply. The young girl sighed, and responded in a tone which said she thought the preacher, who would ask such a silly question might be just a little slow. The girl answered, “You know, Pastor, sometimes you just gotta take what God gives you.”
What has the Lord given us?
Look to the Gospels and see the Lord sent His Son into the world to rescue us. Look to the Scripture and see how Jesus was a friend to the lonely, gave life to those who were dead in the body and offered forgiveness to those burdened by sin. He carried our sins, every one of them as He died on the cross. The Innocent sacrificed to save the guilty. Receive his gift; receive the peace of the living Lord. Listen to Him as He shares His victory over sin, death, and the devil. Salvation is free to all who believe in Him as our Lord and Savior. The risen Jesus has promised to be with us and send His Holy Spirit to give us hope and new life. God has given each of us unique gifts. Some are called to preach, some to teach, and some to serve.
Like the little girl said, sometimes you just have to receive what the Lord gives us.
Thank God for those gifts! Thank God you are a believer! Thank God you have a Savior who cares about you and what sorrow and sadness that comes your way. Thank God, He is the Giver of every good and perfect gift.
